Strengthening Ties in the Community

08 Aug 2014

imageOn Tuesday, 5 August the Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA) hosted their annual Principal’s Breakfast at Windsor High School. Principals from high schools all over the Western Cape attended. Mr Wildschut, Windsor High School Principal, opened the event with a few warm words of welcome and appreciation for being able to host the event at their school.

The Principal’s Nomination Programme is an annual process where Principal’s from more than 17 schools throughout the Western Cape submit their nomination of students to TSiBA for consideration for the Higher Certificate in Business Administration (HCBA). According to Bethwill Cloete, TSiBA Recruitment Officer, “roughly a quarter of TSiBA’s annual intake of new students into the Higher Certificate in Business Administration (HCBA) comes from this Programme. Talented students are spotted long before we come into contact with them, that’s why we value the choices of Principal’s as they have often spent up to five years with them.”

The importance of TSiBA as a potential institute for school leavers looking to study further was highlighted by Nolan Beudeker, TSiBA Dean. “TSiBA’s vision of Igniting Opportunity plays a key role in the transition of students from secondary education onto a tertiary level”.

Darren Wakens, TSiBA first year student (HCBA) and 2013 Windsor High School Head boy, described his reasons for choosing TSiBA. “I fell in love with TSiBA’s Pay It Forward philosophy from day one through the warm, inviting and openness I experienced at the orientation.”

The morning concluded with an open discussion on specifics which facilitate the efficient flow of this process. Valuable feedback was received which will further strengthen TSiBA’s connections in the community with secondary schools.
