New Course - Business Essentials
09 Feb 2012
What is Business Essentials?
This course is offered at a low fee to budding entrepreneurs. The Business Essentials Course is an initiative by TSiBA Ignition Centre aimed at developing entrepreneurs that are confident in starting and running their own sustainable businesses.
Business is a process, to find or create a market, to decide on a product, to let people know you have it, and then to sell it and grow. In business you start with a dream, a goal then you expand into an empire that will be sustained for generations. The Business Essentials course aims to provide you with solutions to the challenges and road blocks that you will face when starting your business.
Business Essentials is a 10 day training programme. Each day has a particular focus that dwells on developing the skills of local entrepreneurs. TSiBA aims to provide resources and support for the entrepreneurs in the communities we serve.

TSiBA’s fourth Mandela Rhodes scholar
07 Oct 2011
Thobela Mfeti has officially become TSiBA’ fourth Mandela Rhodes scholar in the four short years that we have been producing graduates.

This is an outstanding achievement for her and a glowing endorsement for us, as the MR scholarships are awarded to a handful of scholars throughout Africa who display excellence in terms of academic process and broader leadership potential. Indeed they are the next Mandelas.
Thobela will pursue a Masters in Tourism at UCT next year and her research will focus on township tourism. In her application letter to the Foundation she wrote, ” I am a township girl and I am proud of it, but I know that I know that there needs to be transformation and it starts with me. With my passion for township and its development, I have no doubt that I will bring about change.”
Please join me in celebrating Thobela and this very happy moment for TSiBA. Relative to the size of our graduate pool, we are proud that SA’s smallest and youngest university is continuing to produce a disproportionately high number of graduates of the very highest calibre.

The Garden Route Botanical Garden is situated the top of Caledon Street. The Garden Route boasts the largest continuous natural forest area in South Africa, covering some 650 km². Marketable timber is harvested from 20% of the State forest. Stinkwood, named for its unmistakable odour when freshly cut, is highly prized by the furniture industry, as are white pear, hard pear, ironwood and assegaai. The most sought after timber is the Outeniqua Yellowwood (Podocarpus falcatus).
