The philosophy of Paying it Forward is an important part of TSiBA’s culture. Students who are awarded scholarships are not required to pay for their education monetarily, but rather to Pay it Forward by transferring the knowledge, skills and resources that they gain at TSiBA to their communities. In this way, TSiBA’s vision of “Igniting Opportunity” is realised.

A tuition scholarship includes registration fees, textbooks, printing, stationery and one meal per day.  As our education model is fine-grained and our numbers are kept small, it currently costs R51,055 to educate a student per year. This includes the costs of course administration and management, quality assurance and moderation, full-time and part-time lecturers and tutors, textbooks, facilities (IT, online teaching tools, etc.), printing, student counselling (personal and career), materials and workbooks, experiential learning programmes (incl. Wilderness camps) and internship placements. Thanks to in-kind donations provided by our partners, the actual cash component is R39,500 per student per year.

In 2008, we established a Financial Advisory Board to administer student loans for accommodation and living expenses to degree students. This Board has developed well-functioning systems and is also able to administer scholarships to students that are awarded for these expenses. Currently a maximum amount of R1,000 is awarded for living expenses and R1,500 is given for living expenses, which equates to a total of R30,000 per year.

The cost of funding a TSiBA student with a full undergraduate bursary for both tuition, residence and other subsistence related costs is therefore R69,500 per year.

The Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA) was founded in 2004 with a vision to “Ignite Opportunity”.  Our mission is to be an innovative learning community that graduates entrepreneurial leaders who ignite opportunity and social change.

TSiBA is registered and accredited with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution (No: 2007/HE08/001). We currently have an urban campus in Pinelands, Cape Town and a rural campus, TSIBA Eden, in the town of Karatara, near Knysna.
