Tsiba Education
Igniting Opportunity

  Overview

The core of the TSiBA Model is the model of volunteerism.

All of our lectures, mentors, tutors and many of our administrative staff are volunteers who give of their time, each day, each week, each month through out the TSiBA year.

At last count, we had over 5000 people in our network, all of whom volunteers in one way or another, or have over recent years.

At TSiBA there are three ways to volunteer:
  • Academic Volunteers

Volunteers are recruited into our Programme Office as lecturers or tutors.  Through this model, we are able to combine the theoretical knowledge imparted as part of the curriculum, with the practical and experiential knowledge of the volunteer.  This enables us to enrich the students’ classroom experience.

  • Support Services Volunteers

Volunteers are recruited into our Student Support Office primarily as mentors, but also as additional support resources that are made available to our students (e.g. doctors, dentists etc).  The role of mentor is embedded within the our culture and enables each of our students a chance to enhance their self development and leadership skills.

  • Resource Volunteers
TSiBA Education is often in need of additional assistance in the business and operational side of our organisation, and as such recruits volunteers that are willing to give of their time to assist us in the operations of TSiBA Education as a whole e.g.: assisting cataloguing books in our library, invigilating exams, distribution of materials, stock take etc

We are cognisant of the investment that a volunteer makes to TSiBA Education, and that this relationship is reciprocal.  For this reason we only accept volunteers who match the specific roles that TSiBA Education has identified.

Given the importance of the various roles played by volunteers within our business, TSiBA Education does require all volunteers (particularly those involved with lecturing, tutoring and mentoring) to participate in induction and development sessions through the year. These are run in conjunction with our academic and support services staff and are well worth the time.
