TSiBA – Eden Campus was invited to have a stall at a Woman’s Day function hosted by the Knysna Municipality for the community.  Various stalls were advertising their wares along the sides of a beautiful hall at the KnysnaSecondary School in Hornlee. Examples of the stalls were: South Cape College, Beauty Institute, Eden FM; Options for pregnant Women; Zumba exercise club, and TSiBA – Eden’s “How to Grow your own Food” stall. The Hall was packed with excited women and girls, who were entertained with lucky number draws, music and dancing, and food was provided at the end ofthe event.
The mayor of Knysna had invited the community to submit requests for special needs. Many of these needs were met at the event with gifts such as stoves, micro-waves, washing machines, cleaning utensils and food parcels handed out to truly worthy women.  All these women were
involved in altruistic paying forward actions such as starting soup kitchens cooking for the elderly, looking after orphans or physically challenged people, and many more.

The TSiBA – Eden Stall handed out more than 800 vegetable seedlings and hundreds of small envelopes of vegetable seeds donated by Hygrotech.  On display were big shiny leafed vegetables in pots, a worm farms and many banners and posters.  Many informative pamphlets were also available with topics such as “How to build your own food garden, compost heap, worm farm and eco-circle garden”.  Information was also provided on the two day Vegetable Growing Courses that we offer and at the same time 2012 TSiBA – Eden Application Forms were
handed out.  The queue of excited visitors never stopped and the second year students Samantha, Jennifer, Delvinticia and Caroline had their hands full to keep all the enthusiastic visitors happy.  By Francine Rubin
